MEI / CBS College Program Award

We are awarding four stipends of €3,000 each (disbursed in two installments over Winter Semester 2026/27 and Summer Semester 2027) to outstanding students currently enrolled in the CBS College Program.

We are pleased to announce the CBS College Program/Research Talent Challenge, recognizing academic achievement and dedication to fostering intercultural environments and engagement in the CBS community. 

Eligibility
Applicants must be international students enrolled in the Mechanical Engineering (International) program at KIT and the CBS College Program during the 2026/27 academic year. Students with indirect admission are also eligible to apply. Scholarship awards are subject to successful completion of the Eligibility Examination and final admission to the degree program.

Purpose of the Scholarship
The CBS Scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate academic excellence, an international mindset, and a commitment to building a diverse and supportive community.

Particular consideration will be given to applicants who demonstrate:

  • Strong academic performance and potential;

  • Engagement in international and intercultural environments;

  • Commitment to an inclusive student community;

  • Initiative, leadership, and active involvement beyond the classroom;

  • Interest in serving as ambassadors for the CBS College Program and supporting future international students.

Selection Criteria

  • Strong academic performance in the Mechanical Engineering (International) program

  • Active participation in CBS activities and events

  • Positive contribution to the CBS community

  • Willingness to support recruitment, outreach, and ambassador activities

Scholarship Commitments
Recipients are expected to support the visibility and success of the CBS College Program by completing at least three ambassador activities per academic year, including at least one recruitment or outreach activity.

Examples include:

  • Participating in Campus Days and Online Information Sessions

  • Supporting prospective students

  • Providing testimonials and student stories

  • Contributing to communication and outreach initiatives

  • Supporting onboarding, community-building, and student engagement activities

  • Assisting with study groups, exam preparation, or other peer-learning initiatives

Activities will be agreed upon with the CBS College Program team based on the recipient’s interests, strengths, and availability.

Award and Disbursement
Scholarship recipients will be announced during Orientation Week in October 2026 and honored at a scholarship ceremony in November 2026.

The scholarship will be credited directly to the recipient’s CBS student account in two equal installments during the 2026/27 academic year. Payment of the second installment is subject to continued enrollment, satisfactory academic progress, and fulfillment of scholarship commitments.

Instructions for the Video Essay Project

Title: How I Want To Contribute To CBS During my Mechanical Engineering (International) Studies at KIT

Duration: 3 minutes or less

Objective: To explain how I actively want to contribute to the Carl Benz School College Program while studying Mechanical engineering at the KIT

Ideas:

  • Introduce yourself briefly
    • including your current semester and involvement in the CBS College Program
  • What aspects of the CBS College Program has been most valuable to you so far, and why?
    • Academic Framework
    • Community
    • Industry Connections
  • What has been your greatest challenge during your studies at KIT, and how have you addressed it?
  • How have you contributed to the CBS community so far? Please provide specific examples.
  • Have you previously participated in outreach, recruitment, mentoring, social media, community-building, student leadership, or similar activities? Please tell us about your experience.
  • Scholarship recipients are expected to support the visibility, recruitment, and long-term success of CBS. Which ambassador activities would you be most interested in participating and why?
  • If awarded a CBS Scholarship, how would you use your experience to support future CBS students?

Please note: you should address all of these, but can do so in any order you prefer.

Additional Guidelines:

  • Keep the video concise and focused, aiming for a duration of 3 minutes or less.
  • Use clear and engaging language to convey ideas effectively.
  • Incorporate visuals, graphics, or other multimedia elements to enhance the presentation.
  • Ensure audio and video quality for a seamless viewing experience.
  • Review and edit the video essay for claritiy, coherence, and professionalism before submission.
