The registration for the Pre-Semester 2026 opens as soon as the admission letters have been sent out.

Please fill in the registration form below to register for the Pre-Semester at the Carl Benz School of Engineering in Karlsruhe, Germany. 
If you are not participating in the Pre-Semester but are part of the College Program, please also indicate your room request below 

Pre-Semester 2026

Move-In Days: July 30th, 2026

Start of Lectures: July 31st, 2026

End of Exam Period: September 11th, 2026

Dates Entrance Exams: September 7th, 2026

Dates Oral Exams: September 21st-25th, 2026

Dates Retake Exams: September 28th-29th, 2026

Oral Retake Exams: September 30th-October 1st, 2026

The costs for the Pre-Semester include lectures, extra tutorials, teaching materials, exam fees, events & excursions.

Eligibility Examination: Candidates who register for the Eligibility Examination without participating in the CBS Pre-Semester pay an examination fee of €2,200.

Students with indirect admission who participate in the CBS Pre-Semester are entitled to take the Eligibility Examination without paying a separate examination fee.

The Pre-Semester fee is charged for participation in the Pre-Semester program and does not contain a separately allocated Eligibility Examination fee. Consequently, no partial refund of the Pre-Semester fee is available if a participant does not take the Eligibility Examination, for example because they receive direct admission before the examination takes place.

Housing during Pre-Semester:  Limited places are available in the International Department dormitory. Accommodation will be assigned on a first-come, first served basis upon a timely return of the dormitory contract.
Only with both a signed Housing Agreement and the College Program Contract
is residence in the ID dormitory secured for both the Pre-Semester period and beyond. 

In the case that there are no vacancies at the International Department, we can provide you with recommended accommodations in Karlsruhe. Please get in touch with us as soon as possible.

Important information: Please start the visa application process as soon as you have received the letter of admission.

Pre-Semester Housing contracts are valid from July 31st, 2026 (Move-in date: July 30th) until September 30th, 2026. For students who need to take a possible retake examination scheduled from September 28th - October 1st, housing may be provided based on availability.

Please note, if you complete the registration form by June 20th and payment is received by June 30th, 2026, you will automatically receive an early-bird discount.

Online Info Sessions

We are happy to invite you to our online info sessions taking place this June. During the sessions, our team will guide you through everything you need to know for a smooth and successful start to your studies, and of course answer all your questions directly.

The sessions will cover topics such as your arrival in Karlsruhe, our Pre-Semester, and the CBS College Program. Mark your calendars. We look forward to welcoming you online!

Pre-Semester
June 9th, 2026 at 2pm (CEST)

Get a head start before officially beginning your Mechanical Engineering (International) studies! The Pre-Semester gives you the opportunity to refresh and strengthen your knowledge in physics, mathematics, and chemistry. You’ll also enjoy a range of social events and excursions – a great way to connect with your future classmates before the semester begins. The Pre-Semester is also the preparation for the mandatory Eligibility Examination for all students who have indirect admission.

CBS College Program
June 11th, 2026 at 10 am (CEST)

As part of the CBS College Program, you will benefit from a six-week onboarding phase including tailored academic preparation, one-on-one counseling, mentoring, and tutoring. You’ll also receive support in organizing a three-month internship for your final semester. To top it off, the first 50 CBS students who return their signed contract by June 30th, 2026, are guaranteed a room in our on-campus housing.
